Oh my god this is brilliant--and also, I don't think I realized quite how scared you were, which either says something perhaps not so nice about me or something superlatively triumphant about you. And yes it is the Rochester Gap, in all its no-cell signal except at the very top and for a second glory.
The great thing about living with anxiety for this many decades is I've become good at managing the tiger--mindful self compassion has been hugely helpful as a way to get through anxious moments by feeling them rather than avoiding them, which ultimately results in less panic. Though I have forgiven myself for momentarily caving to panic about losing my brakes on a mounting.
Oh gosh that sounds scary as hell. Thank goodness it all worked out. (Also: That is nuts that you couldn't get AAA on a landline!)
Since I survived the trip down the mountain, it probably saved me a few hundred in towing costs. #silverlinings?

Super scary stuff. So glad you are okay. I've driven through there twice, both on trips to Middlebury for my son to visit. Those hills mean business.
Terrifying! That is a scary drive even with brakes. I'm so glad you are ok!
