LOVED your Summer Nights writer parody! and CONGRATULATIONS!!! If you won't exclamation point, I will. Your wonderful summer session-ending entry lifted my heart, except for two words: "false finish." I insist to differ. If you are going back to revise, it isn't a false finish. It's not false because you had pre-work to nail the ending.
There is nothing false about this first-draft finish! Moreover, I think you missed the true point. You achieved your goal WITH the puppy, not before getting the puppy. So please stop muting the enormity of your fabulous accomplishment. You didn't limp in or cheat. You overachieved.
I'm thinking of this draft as the second draft if only because I revised the opening four times and did 2.5 big structural drafts. Yes, its the first time I actually got through the whole book, but it's a second draft or at least it feels like that. I'm calling the next draft #3!
Luxuriated in my break last week. My trip back to the Berkshires for the Jackson Browne concert and journal writing at The Haven the next morning filled my soul and reminded me just how much I love that area.
This summer re-taught me for the umpteenth time how much I achieve when I don't procrastinate. It also showed me I need to re-establish my morning writing habit. It's MIA. That's my fall goal - re-establish a morning writing habit, even if I have to start super small and work my way to an hour.
Cathy, I have LOVED the RAP accountability and admire how you kept us all going, while getting and training a puppy, while finishing your first draft. You. Are. Amazing. Thank you.
Thanks so much, Evelyn! I love the image of you in the Berkshires listening to a (hopefully) stripped down version of Jackson Brown singing my favorite of his (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kk7vCHvof4) and then journaling with all that music and fresh air and the general exhale of the Berkshires the next morning.

And you rock!!!
Thanks, Evelyn!

Cheers to the completed draft #2!

He didn't play that one, but I love it too. It was a great show, though. Yes, the Berkshires are good to me. Writing retreats there in my future. :)
You finished the current draft or your new novel!!! (I'm using exclamation points, not periods.) Yay!!!
